Glasgow to host tax compliance hub

A new tax compliance centre is set to open in Scotland in the summer- a move that will see 150 new jobs created.

The international financial services district in Glasgow will be home to KPMG’s ‘tax centre of excellence’, which will be a hub for tax compliance for all of the 22 offices.

The firm, which acts as an accountancy for contractors, has signed a 10-year lease after Scottish Enterprise provided funding for a possible £1.7 million.

KPMG has said that it is looking for employees from a diverse range of groups, which will include parents looking to get back into work, graduates and mature professionals. The company will also offer flexible working.

The firm’s tax and pensions head for the UK, Jane McCormick, said:

“The new UK tax centre of excellence is a major strategic investment for KPMG which will enhance the level of compliance service we provide to clients across the country.

“Our investment means that we continue to be at the leading edge of compliance delivery to our clients. Our investment in technology will complement our dedicated team of compliance experts to enhance the local relationships we already have with our clients.”

McCormick went on to explain that the creation of the new tax compliance team would permit professionals from across the country to provide quality advice to clients.

Senior partner Craig Anderson said that there was fierce competition from other areas but Glasgow’s high-quality accommodation and resource pool, combined with tangible and enthusiastic support from Scottish Enterprise and local universities, won them over.
